Learn how your customers decide, in their own words.

The Buyer Study is our deepest customer research. We hear from your recent buyers and from the ones who chose someone else, read the record of how they bought, and rank the changes by what they are worth.

Customer research built on the record

Most customer research asks people what they think. The Buyer Study also looks at what they did, so its consumer insights come from real buying, not opinions. For each customer you won and each lead or shopper you lost, it finds the four forces behind the decision:

  • The push: what made them start looking.
  • The pull: what drew them to one choice, and how they made the shortlist.
  • The worry: what almost stopped them, such as the price, trust or the timing.
  • The habit: what kept them where they were, or sent them somewhere else.

It works at any door: on the phone and in person, in the store, or online and by email. Patterns come from your own customers and records, never from assumptions about any group. That includes local buying patterns, measured from your own customers.

What you get

The decision map

The trigger, the shortlist, the first contact, the price moment, the yes, and why the buyers you lost left.

Your buyers’ own words

The voice of the customer, verbatim: how your buyers describe the problem, the choice and the doubt, ready for your pages, scripts and emails.

Changes, ranked

The changes worth making, ranked by what each is worth to you, each tied to the evidence behind it.

One priced next step

What we would fix first, with its price, so the research turns into a change.

What we need from you

  • Your sales records or CRM history for a recent stretch.
  • Permission to invite a handful of recent buyers, and some who chose someone else, to a short interview. You send the invitations from your business; we write them.
  • A short survey for your customers, sent from your own list.
  • Depending on your door: calls your lines already record with a notice, a store visit, or read access to your site and email results.
  • A contact for questions by email. No sales call is needed.

Interviews are recorded only with the person’s OK. Otherwise we take notes. We never quote one of your customers by name without their written OK.

A sample decision map

Illustration: a sample written for this page, not a client’s results.

  1. The trigger. The furnace quit on the first cold night.
  2. The shortlist. Two names from neighbors, one from a search.
  3. The first contact. Whoever answered first got the visit.
  4. The price moment. A price range on the phone kept buyers talking. “It depends” sent them to the next name.
  5. The yes. A clear arrival time, and a tech who explained the options.
  6. Why lost buyers left. No reply to the web form until the next day.

Who it’s for

  • Owner-led businesses at any door that want to know why buyers choose them, or don’t, before changing the offer, the prices or the pitch.
  • Owners who have the count from a $1,000 study and want the full why behind it.

Not for anyone who wants cold-call lists or bought email lists, or wants anyone recorded without notice.

Questions

How is this different from a survey?

A survey tells you what people think. The Buyer Study adds what they did: your sales records, your reviews, and each buyer’s own story of how they decided, from the trigger to the yes.

Is $1,500 to $5,000 worth it?

You see the written scope and its price before you pay. Every change on the list ties to evidence from your own customers, and the list is ranked by what each change is worth, so you know where to start.

Do you contact my customers?

You do. You send the survey and the interview invitations from your own business, and we write them. Interviews are recorded only with the person’s OK; otherwise we take notes.

Will my customers be named in my marketing?

Only with that customer’s written OK. The report uses their words to show patterns, without names.

Should I start here or with a $1,000 study?

Start with the $1,000 study at your door if you want the count first. Choose the Buyer Study when you want the full why behind it, at any door.
