Sell more to the shoppers already coming in.
You know your store. We bring the record of how your shoppers compare, trust and wait, then change the displays, prices and promotions to match.
Retail consulting that starts from your own sales
The Shopper Study looks at how your shoppers find you, compare, decide whom to trust, wait, and buy. It builds shopper insights from your own records rather than general advice, then turns them into changes on your floor. It draws on:
- Your sales around your last two promotions: traffic, average ticket, items per visit, and who came back.
- Your reviews, and your nearest competitors’ reviews.
- A short survey your customers answer. We write it; you send it.
- A visit to your store, walking the path a shopper takes, to see the customer experience from their side.
- A follow-up check after the changes, to see what moved.
Patterns come from your own customers and records, never from assumptions about any group. That includes local buying patterns, measured from your own customers.
What you get
Your shopper pattern
What your shoppers compare, whom they trust, what they wait for and when they buy, in plain words. Each point ties to your sales or your shoppers’ own answers.
Your last two promotions, read
What each one did to traffic, average ticket, items per visit and margin, and whether those shoppers came back.
The top fixes, written out
Display changes, price signs, promotion timing, bundles and member offers, ready for your staff.
A follow-up check and one priced next step
A check after the changes to see what moved, and what we would fix next, with its price. The $1,000 counts toward it if you buy within 30 days.
What we need from you
- Sales reports from your register or POS for the weeks around your last two promotions, plus a few ordinary weeks.
- The dates of those promotions, and what each one offered.
- Permission to send your customers a short survey, from your own list or at the counter.
- A visit, at a time that suits your store.
- A contact for questions by email. No sales call is needed.
Price and terms
The Shopper Study
$1,000, fixed
- No long-term contract.
- No sales call needed to start.
- We review every request ourselves and email you a written scope for your study: what we do, what you get, what we need from you, and the price.
- Our target is about 45 days from kickoff, including the follow-up check.
- One store visit within 25 miles of Chicago is included. Farther away, travel (rideshare or airfare) is added to your agreement before you pay, or, for a store too far to visit, we walk through it with you by live video.
- The fee counts toward any fix you buy within 30 days.
If you want help after
- Fixes (displays, price signs, promotion timing, bundles, member offers and pricing and offer design) are quoted after the study.
- A monthly pattern check and promotion plan is quoted after the study too. It stops in any month.
A sample: a buying hunch, scored
Illustration: a sample written for this page, not a client’s results.
The hunch: a neighborhood butcher believes shoppers price-shop until they find a store they trust, then wait for the discount and stock up. The study scores each step against the record.
Price-shopping: holds
Shoppers compare prices before they settle on a store.
Trust ends the search: needs rewording
Trust narrowed where shoppers looked, but they kept comparing prices after they found the store.
Waiting for the discount: holds
Visits bunch up on discount days, week after week.
Stocking up: holds for some
Some shoppers buy bigger packs to save. Others buy smaller ones.
The fixes that follow: clear, visible prices from the first visit; member early access and bonus packs in place of deeper store-wide discounts; bigger and smaller packs side by side.
Who it’s for
- Owner-led stores that depend on walk-ins and want to sell more to the shoppers already coming in.
- Owners who watch traffic, average ticket and margin, and want to know what their promotions really did.
Not for anyone who wants cold-call lists or bought email lists, or wants staff recorded without notice.
Questions
Is $1,000 worth it for one store?
You see a written scope by email before you pay anything. Every finding ties to your own sales, your reviews or your shoppers’ answers, and the $1,000 counts toward any fix you buy within 30 days.
My regulars are steady. Is anything really wrong?
Maybe not. The study counts first: traffic, average ticket, items per visit and repeat visits around your own promotions. If the count is fine, the report says so plainly.
Wouldn’t a bigger sale or a new sign do it for less?
Sometimes. We don’t push any vendor, tool or display. If a cheaper fix is enough, the report says which one. A deeper discount can also teach regulars to wait for the next one, so we check that first.
You don’t know my store. Won’t this be generic advice?
You know your store best. We bring the record: your own sales, your reviews and your shoppers’ own answers. Every finding points to one of them, not to a tip list.
Will this make my staff pushy with shoppers?
No. The fixes change what shoppers see and when: clearer prices, better bundles and better timing. No pressure tactics and no countdown signs.
Will I pay for a report and see nothing change?
The study ends with the top fixes written out (displays, price signs, promotion timing) and a follow-up check after the changes to see what moved.
Am I locked into anything after?
No. There is no long-term contract. Monthly work, if you ever want it, is quoted after the study and stops in any month.
